Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the governing body for 3 Bluebirds Farm. The responsibilities of our Board of Directors are to help keep 3BBF on mission; to support the President and staff; to attend monthly board meetings; to ensure that financial accountability & stewardship are hallmarks of operations; to participate in fundraising; to provide financial support; and to advocate for and serve as ambassadors for 3BBF in the community and among peers.

I'm Erin O'Loughlin, founder of 3 Bluebirds Farm. Together with my husband, Colm, I am the proud mother of three wonderful children—our "three bluebirds." We live in Cary, North Carolina, just outside of Raleigh.
Our middle son, Marcus, was diagnosed with severe autism at age three. Now 21, he continues to teach us about resilience, courage, and the urgent need for more meaningful opportunities and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities. After years of navigating significant challenges and limited resources, we made the difficult decision to place Marcus in assisted living as a young adult. While he has adjusted well, our family's journey revealed a reality that countless families face every day: when individuals with autism age out of the school system, there are far too few options available to help them thrive.
That realization became the foundation for 3 Bluebirds Farm.
Before founding the organization, I spent more than twenty years in nonprofit development, marketing, and fundraising, serving organizations ranging from public television and private schools to healthcare systems. I have led major fundraising campaigns, coordinated large-scale events, and helped build strategic programs that raised millions of dollars in support of meaningful causes. I graduated from Wake Forest University in 1997 with degrees in Philosophy and Psychology and originally planned to pursue a career in higher education. Life, however, had a different calling.
Today, I bring together my professional experience and personal journey to serve families impacted by autism. Living with severe autism in our family has given me grit, grace, humility, humor, and an unwavering sense of purpose. It has taught me to advocate fiercely, build boldly, and never stop believing in what is possible.
At 3 Bluebirds Farm, we recognize that autism is experienced differently by every individual and family. For many, autism is a source of identity, pride, and community. The neurodiversity movement has brought visibility, acceptance, and empowerment to countless people, and we deeply honor and celebrate that.
At the same time, we know that some individuals and families face profound challenges related to safety, communication, independence, and daily living. These experiences are equally real and equally deserving of understanding, support, and respect.
We believe there is a vast spectrum of autism and developmental disabilities, and every person—regardless of support needs—deserves dignity, opportunity, inclusion, and access to the services and resources necessary to live a meaningful life.
That belief is reflected in our tagline:
"Empowering families impacted by autism to spread their wings."
For us, those words represent hope, resilience, and the belief that every individual and every family deserves the opportunity to soar.
With gratitude,
Erin J. O'Loughlin
